economy and corruption

There are many activities and behaviours that affect the economy of a country. Corruption, tax evasion, and absenteeism are just a few examples. When a mayor who received a bribe signs a contract for a project with the least skilled and the least demanding contractor, he will unavoidably cause enormous damage to the nation. Poorly done, the final work will last only a few months before requiring repairs more costly to the public treasury. When a trader works illegally and pays no taxes, he will grow richer quickly, but at the expense of honest traders and the nation. The first will then face unfair competition, and the second will suffer a revenue shortfall that could be used to finance some projects. When an employee, regardless of position, is often absent without reason, he will affect the good functioning of the sector in which he works, and in turn he will harm the whole nation. For all these reasons, we all ought to commit ourselves to the fight against these phenomena in order to prevent that our country sinks into inextricable crises.

The United Nations has sent out a warning that up to fifty per cent of prescription medicines sold in developing world pharmacies are fake. A report from the International Narcotics Control Board, the UN drugs watchdog, said fake medicines are flooding into poorer countries. It stated that the consequences of people taking these drugs can be deadly. It also warned that the trade in fake prescription drugs may soon overtake the trade in illegal drugs. Many of the resources of the world’s law enforcement agencies are focused on hard drugs like heroin and cocaine. The UN suggests a refocus so that poor nations can fight the trade in counterfeit prescription drugs. The biggest problem for developing countries is that their laws are too old to control the flood, especially for sales over the Internet and those delivered by mail.

In America, people are afraid of unemployment. There is a direct link between employment and education. There is a saying: “Improve your schools or lose your jobs”. Many governors of states agreed to the development of common standards in essential subjects. America which spends a quarter of trillion dollars a year on education, finds itself classed 13th compared to other developed countries. This has a bad consequence on business. People who have a better education, have better jobs and get better pay. Countries that have better educational systems have stronger economies and can compete in the world market place.

Today the pressure group ‘Parents Against Obesity’ sent a detailed report of their concerns to the government along with more than 50.000 signatures asking for tighter controls against the food industry’s advertising directly into the children’s market.
Beginning with a statement outlining what it sees as the main causes of obesity in children, the report covers various areas in which it proposes tougher control and action against what it calls “ an overwhelming campaign to persuade children to eat precisely what they need the least.”
Principally, the report believes that advertising fast food and high-sugar snacks during children’s television programmes encourages children to desire and consume foods which offer

The main argument against the co-education is that boys and girls differ. They differ in their biological make-up, their interests, their aspirations and their expectations. More important, they differ in their rates of development. At 13 girls are gaining maturity and emotional attachments, while boys are still unruly. Trying to teach them in the same class is like trying to teach two groups of different ages together. Left to themselves, children naturally choose friends among contemporaries of the same sex.
Another argument favours co-education and says that it is “natural”. Boys and girls exist. They live together in families, later they work together and get married to each other. The place for the sexes to begin learning to live is at school, Good
