Pronunciation of ED

ED appears at the end of regular verbs in the past tense (e.g. wanted, helped, lived) sometimes in adjectives ending in ED (e.g. tired, embarrassed, relaxed) as well as in some Past Participles.
However the pronunciation of ED sometimes causes problems for non-native speakers because it can be pronounced in three different ways: as / id /, as / t / or as / d /
(Note: whenever you see letters or symbols between two slash marks (/ /), it refers to the pronunciation of that letter or sound)
Before we learn the difference ways to pronounce ED, we must first know what voiced and voiceless consonants are:

Pronunciation of Final -S

(Note: whenever you see letters or symbols between two slash marks (/ /), it refers to the pronunciation of that letter or sound)
The pronunciation depends on the last sound of the verb or noun which is usually a consonant. Before we learn the difference ways to pronounce the final S, we must first know what voiced and voiceless consonants are as well as sibilant sounds:

Relaxing Test

The second term English Test

Text:
It is quite easy for doctors to tell people how to relax. But how do people really do that? I decided to find out for myself. So, I questioned teenagers between 15 and 18 how they relaxed. All of them come from secondary school because they make up the population which suffers most from stress. When I asked how many of them took some rest after a busy day, all of them said yes. But my main interest in fact was what they usually did to relax and keep cool.
As expected, the results of my survey show that many young people do not know how to relax and thus get rid of the stress. Most of them prefer watching adventure films or listening to “Jazz or Rock” music which is an unhealthy habit or drinking

Global warming Exam

                                                         Second term English exam.

 PART ONE: R E A D I N G (15pts)
Read the text carefully and do the activities

More and more people all over the world realize that global warming is a real and a serious problem. Almost everyone agrees that the Earth's climate has begun to change, as reported by scientists and experts in newspapers, TV programs, and magazines. The summers are hotter. The winters are warmer. As a result, glaciers have become smaller. If this continues, there could be water shortages in the future in Europe and the Americas. In addition, scientists believe deserts will grow much larger in some parts of the world, which means areas of Africa, China, and the Middle East will have little or no water to grow food. Storms will become worse, too. Although we have not seen many big changes yet, our children and our children's children could live in a very different world. They could face many problems in the future. Governments around the world have taken action to fight pollution and global warming. Unfortunately, they need to do more. In addition, big countries like the US, China, and Russia continue to pollute heavily. All governments must take action with new laws to protect the environment. They must research and develop new technologies, such as wind and solar power. They must pollute less and reuse resources. Individuals can take action now, though.
