Story Exam


                                             The Second Term Exam

Part one: Reading
Read the text below ,then do the activities that follows;

One day a man said to his son,” I want to sell our donkey. Come, we will take the donkey to town.” On the way to town, they met three women .One said,” Why are you walking?  One of you can ride the donkey.” The man said,” Yes, you are right. Son, get on. You can ride the donkey.”
      Next day they met three old men. One old man said,” Why is the boy riding? He is young and you are old. Why don’t you ride the donkey?”  The man said,” Yes, you are right. Son, please get off the donkey. I will ride it.”
       Later they saw farmers. One said, “You lazy old man. Why don’t you let the boy ride?” The man said, “You are right. Son get on the donkey again, we will ride together.”


      They rode on and soon they met a family. The mother said, “Poor donkey, it is too small to carry a man and a boy.” The man said, “You are right. Now we will carry the animal. Son, get off the donkey and find a stick from a tree. We can tie the donkey’s legs to the stick and carry it on our shoulders.”
     They tied the donkey’s legs to a stick and carried the animal on their shoulders. Soon they came to a bridge over a river. The people in the town laughed at the man and his son carrying the donkey. The boy dropped the stick and the donkey fell into the river and died. The man was very sad. He sat down and cried. He said,” Now we have no donkey to sell. I wanted to make everyone happy, not even me.”

Tragedies – first trip of the ship titanic - 2000 people -from America to England-April 4th, 1912 crashed into iceberg- huge hole in the bottom of the ship- sinking rapidly-1500 people lost their lives.


Topic two: What moral we  can take from the short story above?  Do you think we can please every body?
Write a short paragraph(6 to 7 lines)  expressing your own point of view about the short story above.
